Tulsa Individuals Ready for NCAA Tournament
May 22, 2007 Athens, Ga. - The University of Tulsa's Arnau Brugues, Diego Camacho and Ross Cunningham will begin the individual phase of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships on May 23 with the singles and doubles tournaments in Athens, Ga. Brugues was elevated from the No. 7 seed to the No. 6 seed when UCLA's Benjamin Kohlloeffel withdrew from the singles tournament. His first round opponent is UCLA's Chris Surapol, with the match set for 11 a.m. on May 23. Brugues, the No. 7 ranked player in the nation, compiled a 28-6 record this season, including a 17-6 record against ranked opponents. Surapol enters as the No. 41 ranked player in the nation and a 23-8 record having played most of the season as the Bruins' number four player. Camacho and Cunningham will face Markus Dickhardt and Christian Groh from San Diego State in the first round, with time yet to be determined. Tulsa's No. 41 ranked duo finished the season with a 22-11 record and advanced to the championship with an automatic bid to represent Conference USA. Groh and Dickhardt are ranked No. 32 in the nation and enter with a record of 13-7 as a pair, including four wins against ranked opponents.
