IRVING, Texas - SMU's David Kuczer and Rice's Julie Chao are Conference USA's Tennis Players of the Month for September. A senior for the Mustangs, Kuczer won the Rice Invitational Flight A singles title and also had a solid showing in the pre-qualifying rounds at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championship.

DAVID KUCZER - SMU
Sr., Szcecin, Poland
Kuczer won the Rice Invitational title in Singles Flight A, knocking off Jan Zelezny of LSU (5-7, 6-4, 6-2), Ross Cunningham of Tulsa (4-6, 7-5, 6-0) and Kevin Dessauer of LSU (1-6, 7-5, 6-4). Kuczer then went on to the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships, where he swept his competition in the pre-qualifying rounds. Kuczer blew past Clemens Geercken of Oral Roberts (6-0, 6-1) before beating David Galic of Baylor (6-0, 4-6, 7-5) and Robin Fernandes of UTSA in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Kuczer moved on to the qualifying round, where he was eliminated by Sascha Heinemann of Hawaii in three sets.
OTHER NOTABLE MEN'S TENNIS PERFORMANCES (SEPT.)
Amrit Narasimhan, Sr., Charlie Ramsay, So., - Memphis
Narasimhan teamed with Ramsay for the first time in their careers and used a perfect 5-0 mark to win the Flight 1 doubles crown at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships. The unseeded duo downed the Nos. 2, 11 and 12 seeds en route to the title.
Strate Krstevski, So. - Southern Miss
Krstevski finished the Southern Miss Fall Invitational with a 4-0 record in singles play, winning in straight sets in all but one match. He knocked off players from Troy, UALR and UAB along the way. In doubles, he teamed with Markus Wessinghage and posted a 1-1 record.
Andy Connelly, Sr. - Tulsa
Connelly and his doubles partner, Ross Cunningham are 40th in the ITA Preseason Rankings. At the Rice Invitational, the pair won the Flight A Doubles. Connelly went 2-1 in Flight B singles at Rice and will participate in the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championship beginning play in the qualifying draw in singles and in the main draw in doubles.
Brock Sakey, Jr. - UCF
Sakey reached the third round of singles play at the Rollins C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational. He teamed with Johan Beigart in doubles and the pair took the Flight A title. Sakey also played in the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championship and won his first two pre-qualifying matches before falling to No. 7 Alexey Tsyrenov of Auburn.
