BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team will be in action this weekend at the Crimson Tide Fall Invitational at Tuscaloosa, Ala. There will be 25 schools competing in the tournament.

The tournament, to be held at three different locations on the Alabama campus, will run Friday throught Sunday. The Blazers will have seven players entered in the tournament in singles competition and three doubles teams also competing.

UAB senior Hans Spangenberg is scheduled to play his first singles match Friday morning when he goes against Nejc Podkrajsek of Georgia State in the "A" Flight.

Freshman Tyrone Ewels, who has had an outstanding fall, will go against Oscar Machuca of Southern Miss in his first match while UAB's Thomas Petrich will compete in the same flight against Andrew Poole of Southern Miss.

Sophomore Alex Emery is matched against Scott Blackmon of Georgia Tech in his opening round match. UAB's Miquel Artero will play Mark Paetz of Georgia Southern in his first action Frirday.

Senior Adrian Tollstam meets Southern Miss' Callen Frayincheeaud in Friday's opening round while the Blazers' John Hollimon received a first round bye and will await the winner of the match between Alabama's Andrew Felsenthal and Troy's Mark Zivkovic.

In doubles, Artero and Petrich will play the Radford team of Paul Boslet and Tyler Early in first round play Friday. Spangenberg and Tollstam are matched against Blackmon and Ryan Smith of Georgia Tech while the UAB duo of Emery and Ewels goes against Clemson's Gera Boryachinskiy and Robert Pietrucha.
