IRVING - Rice's Christoph Müller won Conference USA Tennis Player of the Month honors Tuesday afternoon for the month of October as annouced by the league office.

Müller won six of his nine singles matches during the month of October, including a run to the quarterfinals at the Wilson/ITA South Central Regional Championships. Along the way, Müller knocked off top seed and No. 22 ranked Bojan Szumanski of Texas Tech 6-3, 6-3 in the Round of 16.

Müller opened the month with a strong showing at the Polo Ralph Lauren Men's All-American Championships. He won a pair of qualifying matches over opponents from LSU and North Carolina. After falling one match short of the main draw, Müller was granted a lucky loser spot in the consolation draw where defeated No. 14 Pierre Mouillon of California 6-1, 6-4.

Müller teammed with fellow German Ralph Knupfer and won four of their six doubles decisions. The duo, who entered the season as C-USA highest ranked doubles pair, also made the semifinals of the Wilson/ITA South Central Regional Championships.

Müller and the Owls return to action at the Arizona State Invitational on January 11-13. Rice will compete against the host Sun Devils along with Illinois and Texas.
