Community service: On a number of occasions, Katy took time out to read bedtime stories to young kids as part of the Milk and Cookies program at the University Park Public Library. The kids loved her as she conversed with them and made the stories come to life. Along with her teammates, Katy also went out to "CHAMPS Sport Camp" at Dan D. Rogers Elementary to introduce these students in grades 4- 6, who live very difficult lives of poverty, to a variety of sports and to provide an opportunity for them to learn specific skills within these sports, thus encouraging them and giving them confidence to get involved in sports. The athletes played among the kids while running stations and implementing drills. |
