IRVING, Texas - Conference USA has named Houston's Twiggy McIntyre its Women's Basketball Player of the Week after she guided the Cougars to a pair of league wins. The 5-5 guard matched a C-USA weekly best with 23.0 points per game. She also knocked down five treys and hit all eight attempted foul shots for the week. This is McIntyre's second weekly honor in the last three weeks.

C-USA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TWIGGY MCINTYRE, HOUSTON

McIntyre averaged 23.0 points per game and shot a solid .516 (16-of-31) from the field and .900 (9-of-10) from the free throw line. She also connected on five 3-pointers, dished out six assists and pocketed six steals in 36 minutes per game.

She has led the Cougars to a red-hot 4-1 start in league play with recent wins coming at UCF, 74-61, and against Southern Miss, 71-61. Houston snapped an eight-game road-league losing streak by knocking off UCF last Monday. McIntyre scored 22 on nine field goals, including three treys as well as four rebounds, three assists and steals.

She also added a game-high 24 points in the team's win over Southern Miss Sunday. She shot .500 (7-of-14) from the field, knocked down a pair of triples and was a flawless 8-of-8 from the charity stripe.

Through six games in January, McIntyre is averaging 22 ppg, shooting over 50 percent from the field and is 39-of-41 (.951) from the line.

For the season, she ranks third in the league in scoring, averaging 15.6 ppg, and free throw percentage, hitting .861. McIntyre also appears among the Top 15 in six other categories including second in 3-pointers per game, 2.21.

This is McIntyre's second Player of the Week honor.
