TULSA, Okla. - Game two of the 2007 Conference USA Women's Basketball Championship in the Donald W. Reynolds Center in Tulsa saw No. 5 UTEP down No. 12 Memphis, 84-75. Jareica Hughes scored 14 of her game-high 22 points in the first half to lead the Miners.

UTEP (22-7) jumped out to leads of 20-8 and 31-13 during the first ten minutes of the game en route to a 47-34 halftime lead. The Miners shot 50 percent in the first half and 44 percent from distance.

The Tigers closed the gap in the second half and tied the score at 55 with just under 13 minutes left in the game. U of M also reached ties at 66, 71 and 73, but was unable to ever take the lead.

Izabela Piekarska was also strong for UTEP, posting 19 points and adding two blocks. Kasia Krezel and Shalana Taylor scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, to round out the double-figure scorers for the Miners. Tasha Marisett was a force on the glass, corralling 10 rebounds, while Ana Valtierra also filled the stat sheet posting eight points, nine assists, two rebounds and three steals.

The Tigers (4-27) were led by Aroha Jennings' double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Devin Necaise tallied 15 points and five rebounds for Memphis, while Se'erra Fantroy and Alysse Davis scores nine points each in the loss.

With the win, UTEP advances to face No. 4 Rice at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
