TULSA, Okla. - Second-seeded UAB (18-11) advanced to its first championship semifinal since 2000 with its last second win over host and No. 10 Tulsa (11-19) on Friday in the third quarterfinal game of the 2007 Conference USA Women's Basketball Championship. Player of the Year Carmen Guzman of UAB led all scorers with 28 points, but it was Christon Ingram who rebounded Guzman's miss and put in the winning score who served as the Blazers hero.

The teams were tied nine times and exchanged the lead on 18 occasions in another back and forth battle that closely resembled the first two games of the day. This contest however, went down to the wire.

With 1:08 remaining and UAB up three, Guzman drove the lane missed her lay up. After a TU timeout, Valerie Siemens knocked down her second 3-pointer of the game to tie the score at 65 with 30 seconds on the clock. UAB then drew up another play for Guzman that resulted in Ingram's winning put back.

Guzman added four rebounds, three assists and a steal to her stat line to lead the Blazers. She was complimented by Diamond Rogers who had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Ingram finished with 10 points and seven boards.

Tulsa standout Jillian Robbins scored a team-high 20 points and added nine rebounds and four blocks. Siemens finished with 12 and six rebounds, while Jamie Dreiling chipped in with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals in the loss.

UAB advances to play in Saturday's second semifinal game scheduled to tip off at 4:30 p.m. CT. The contest will be aired LIVE on CSTV.

The 2007 Conference USA Women's Basketball Championship continues today at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Quarterfinal action began with No. 1 Tulane defeating No. 9 Houston, 62-55, while No. 4 Rice downed No. 5 UTEP, 56-46, in game two. No. 2 UAB took out host and No. 10 Tulsa, 67-65, in the final seconds of game three. The final game of the day features No. 3 East Carolina against No. 6 SMU at 8:30 p.m.
