ORLANDO, Fla. - Game two of the 2008 Conference USA Women's Basketball Championship at the UCF Arena in Orlando, Fla., featured No. 6 Marshall downing No. 11 Tulane, 65-58.

The Herd's Casey Baker led a trio of Marshall double digit scorers with 18 points. The junior also had game-high eight assists and added eight rebounds.

Marshall led 32-14 at the break. The Herd shot 46 percent from the floor and 63 percent from behind the arc to jump out to the big halftime lead. Tulane shot just 17 percent and made only 1-of-13 3-pointers.

Marshall led by as many as 23 points early in the second stanza, before Tulane cut the lead to eight at 48-40 with 6:02 left to play.

With 5:18 remaining in the game and down 51-42, the Green Wave committee two consecutive costly turnovers that led to two Marshall layups and the game appeared to be out of reach.

TU responded minutes later however, with a quick 5-0 run to close the gap to 57-52 with 1:24 left to play. That would be as close the team would be able to get as Marshall salted the game away from the free throw line.

Kizzy Hart helped the Herd's cause with 12 points, while Tynikki Cook chipped in with 10 points and added a game-high 14 rebounds, 10 on the defensive end.

Tulane's Ashley Langford led all scorers with 20 points and had a team-high five assists. Nikki Luckhurst had 17 points, three rebounds and two steals. Alendra Brown tallied eight points and a team-high eight rebounds in the losing effort.

Marshall played the contest without junior guard Meg Withrow who sat out the game due to an undisclosed injury.

Tulane ends its season at 16-14, while Marshall improves to 16-15. The Herd advance to face third-seeded UAB at 2:30 p.m. EST on Friday.
