    All three C-USA teams have advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Frogs will next take on No. 1 seed Duke on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CST) on ESPN2. C-USA Tournament Champion Cincinnati captured its first-ever NCAA Tournament win, defeating St. Peter's 76-63 in the East Region. Tulane also advances in the tourney after upseting Colorado State, 73-69. Houston continues to roll in the WNIT with it win over Miami (Fla.), 83-76.     HEADING TO THE BIG DANCE
    Cincinnati, TCU and Tulane have all advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
    Cincinnati posted its first ever NCAA Tournament win on Saturday, defeating St. Peter’s, 76-63. The Bearcats, who currently hold a school-record 14-game win streak, will face South Carolina on Monday. Tip-off in Columbia, S.C. will be 6:36 p.m. (CST).
    In their first round game, the Horned Frogs defeated Indiana, 55-45 and will next take on No. 1 seed Duke on Sunday at 1 p.m. It marked the second consecutive year that TCU has advanced to the second round. Last year, the Horned Frogs upset Penn State in the first round, 77-75, before falling to Louisiana Tech, 80-59.
    Tulane upset No. 20th-ranked Colorado State. 73-69, on Saturday in Stanford’s Maples Pavilion as the first game of the doubleheader in the West Region. It marked only the third time in school history that Tulane has advanced to the second round. The Green Wave will now take on the winner of the Stanford/Weber State game.

    C-USA IN THE WNIT
    With its 83-76 win over Miami (Fla.) on Saturday, Houston advances to the quarterfinal round of the WNIT on Wednesday, March 20. The Cougars will next travel to Valparaiso, Ind., to take on the Crusaders of the Mid-Continent Conference on Wednesday. Tip-off time has yet to be determined.
    C-USA’S ALL-AMERICANS
    On March 12, DePaul’s LENAE WILLIAMS and Houston’s CHANDI JONES earned honorable mention All-American honors, announced by the Associated Press. In its seven-year history, Conference USA has had 10 players, who have earned AP honors.

    CINCINNATI’S WIN STREAK
    With their win over St. Peter’s, the No. 19 Bearcats currently have tied the league’s longest win streak with 14 wins. It marks the second year in a row that C-USA has had a team post 14 consecutive wins in a season. Last year, Tulane set the record with 14.

    AROUND C-USA…

    CHARLOTTE (16-13, 7-7 C-USA)
    After capturing a 58-46 win over Memphis in the first round of the C-USA Tournament, the 49ers fell to Houston, 68-65 on March 2. Charlotte ends the 2001-02 season with a 16-13 record, its most wins since the 1991-92. The Niners finished 20-8. PEACHES HARRIS led the 49ers with 18 points against Memphis and 16 points against Houston. In the conference, she currently stands 18th in scoring with 11.6 points per game.

    CINCINNATI (27-4, 11-3 C-USA)
    Cincinnati claimed its first-ever NCAA Tournament win, defeating St. Peter’s, 76-63 on March 16 in Columbia, S.C. VALERIE KING led the Bearcats with a game-high 24 points, while C-USA Freshman of the Year DEBBIE MERRILL scored 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Cincinnati will now face the winner of the Liberty/South Carolina matchup on Monday, beginning at 6:36.

    DE PAUL (15-14, 8-6 C-USA)
    DePaul suffered an 87-76 loss to Michigan State in the first round of the WNIT on March 14. Freshman JENNI DANT led the Blue Demons with a career-high 24 points, while LENAE WILLIAMS scored 17 points. Williams closed out her four-year career against the Spartans. She ranks third in NCAA history with 330 career treys. She is also ranked fifth on C-USA all-time scoring list with 2,046 points.

    EAST CAROLINA (6-21, 3-11 C-USA)
    East Carolina ended the 2001-02 season with a 68-51 loss to Tulane on Feb. 24. The Pirates finished with a 6-21 record and 3-11 conference mark. COURTNEY WILLIS led East Carolina with 12.3 points per game, while KIM ENOCH averaged a team-high seven rebounds per game.

    HOUSTON (24-7, 11-3 C-USA)
    The Cougars defeated Miami (Fla.), 83-76 in the second round of the WNIT on March 16. With the win, Houston improves to 24-7, its second-highest win total in school history. The Cougars are now only two wins away from tying the school record of 26 wins, posted during the 1977-78 season. VAL MUONEKE led Houston with a career-high four blocks and 14 rebounds. CHANDI JONES also added a game-high 22 points. The Cougars now advance to the quarterfinal round against Valparaiso on Wednesday.

    LOUISVILLE (17-13, 8-6 C-USA)
    Louisville fell to Ball State, 95-84 on March 13 in the first round of the WNIT. The Cardinals finish the 2001-02 season with a 17-13 overall record. SARA NORD broke her own C-USA and school record with 235 assists. Last year, as a freshman she set the mark with 222.

    MARQUETTE (14-14, 7-7 C-USA)
    Marquette fell 43-40 to Saint Louis in the first round of the C-USA Tournament on March 1, to finish the season with a 14-14 overall record. RACHEL KLUG led the Golden Eagles in scoring this season with 13 points per game. She currently is ranked 27th in the nation with a 56.2 field goal percentage. KATIE ALSDURF earned All-Freshman honors, after ranking second on the team with 7.3 points per game.

    MEMPHIS (11-17, 5-9 C-USA)
    Memphis suffered a 58-46 loss to Charlotte on Friday in the opening round of the C-USA Tournament. SHANNON HAMP led the Tigers and finished seventh in the conference in scoring with 15.1 points per game. PRINCESS SWILLEY, who is ranked No. 12 in the league, posted 12.8 points per game this season.

    SAINT LOUIS (14-15, 6-8 C-USA)
    The Billikens posted their first-ever win against Marquette in 27 meetings to advance to the quarterfinals of the C-USA Tournament. It marked only the first time since 1999 that the Billikens claimed a first round win at the tournament. Saint Louis then fell to TCU, 68-57 in the next round. ANGIE LEWIS led the Billikens in rebounding this season, posting 7.8 boards per game to rank seventh in the conference.

    SOUTH FLORIDA (14-13, 4-10 C-USA)
    South Florida ended the 2001-02 season with a win over Memphis, 80-61 on Feb. 24. South Florida enjoyed a 10-game improvement from a year ago, placing it fourth on C-USA all-time best turnaround list. DIONE SMITH ends her career as C-USA’s all-time steals leader with 360.

    SOUTHERN MISS (11-17, 4-10 C-USA)
    SOUTHERN MISS dropped an 83-52 decision to Louisville in the first round of the C-USA Tournament. SONJA BROWN finished the season, setting a Southern Miss record with 101 blocks on the season. She also ranks second on C-USA single-season list.

    TCU (24-6, 12-2 C-USA)
    KATI SAFARITOVA scored 12 points as TCU defeated Indiana, 55-45 in the East Regional on March 15. The Frogs advance to the second round where they will face Duke on Sunday at Cameron Indoor Stadium. ASHANTI NIX and EBONY SHAW each posted eight points each, while TIFFANY EVANS pulled down eight rebounds. Safaritova also notched four blocks. For the second year in a row, TCU advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Last year, the Frogs upset Penn State, 77-75 in the 2001 NCAA Tourney.

    TULANE (24-10, 8-6 C-USA)
    GWEN SLAUGHTER had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead Tulane over Colorado State, 73-69 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Green Wave now advance to the second round where they will face either Stanford or Weber State. It marks only the third time in school history that Tulane has advanced to the second round of the tourney. BRITT THEMANN scored 14 points, while TEANA MCKIVER and SARAH GOREE each added 11. The Green Wave is one of just 12 schools to have appeared in each of the last eight NCAA Tournaments.

    UAB (12-16, 4-10 C-USA)
    UAB dropped a 62-35 decision to Tulane on March 1 at the C-USA Tournament. NATASHA THOMAS finished the season leading the conference with 20 double-double performances for the season. She also currently leads the league with 11.4 rebounds per game. The Blazers competed without All-American standout DEANNA JACKSON, who suffered a broken right fibula on Dec. 29. She missed the whole conference season, but finished her collegiate career ranked second in rebounding with 1,118 boards and third in C-USA career scoring with 2,144 points.
