New Mexico Ends UAB's Season With 77-55 Victory in WNIT
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) _ Jordan Adams scored 20 points and New Mexico slowed down the
nation's second-leading scorer in a 77-55 victory over Alabama-Birmingham in the quarterfinals of the
Women's National Invitation Tournament on Wednesday night.
New Mexico (21-12) advanced to the semifinals against the winner of the Hawaii-Oklahoma State game,
which was being played late Wednesday night.
Adams and Chelsea Grear, who hit six of seven shots for 13 points, led a New Mexico offense that shot 56
percent in the second half. The Lobos extended a 34-26 halftime lead to 50-31 by hitting seven of their first
nine shots in the second half.
UAB (20-11) had trouble handling the Lobos' swarming defense and shot just 9-of-32 in the second half.
Deanna Jackson scored 16 points, but shot just 5-of-19 and was far below her season average of 25.4
points. Mia Thrash had 13 points for UAB.
