TCU’s Sandora Irvin was named to the 2005 NCAA Division I Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team in an announcement made by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Eastman Kodak Company on April 2. Selection committees in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions selected ten women's basketball players to be honored.

Joining Irvin on the 2005 NCAA Division I Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team are Seimone Augustus (LSU), Jacqueline Batteast (Notre Dame), Monique Currie (Duke), Jessica Davenport (Ohio State), Janel McCarville (Minnesota), Kendra Wecker (Kansas State), Tan White (Mississippi State), Candice Wiggins (Stanford) and Sophia Young (Baylor).

Irvin, who finished the season averaging 19.9 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 2.1 assists and 2.5 steals, is the first player from TCU and the second Conference USA player to make the Kodak All-America team. Houston’s Chandi Jones received the honor in 2004.

"This year's group is filled with fresh new faces. These ten young ladies represent the future of women's basketball," said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. "Considering the overwhelming field of talent at this level of the game, the Kodak/WBCA All-America Team Selection Committee has done an excellent job choosing another class of All-Americans."

In addition, Jessica Dickson (USF), Khara Smith (DePaul) and Jazz Covington (Louisville) were named Kodak/WBCA All-America Team Honorable Mentions.

"Kodak recognizes the accomplishments of these student-athletes and the positive recognition they bring to their schools, their communities and the game," said Bud Denker, Director and Vice President, Brand and Market Development at Kodak. "Kodak is proud to partner with the WBCA in honoring the best women's collegiate players as Kodak/WBCA All-Americans."

Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as an amateur sport for women and girls.
