Doug Bruno Named IBCA Coach of the Year

DePaul women’s basketball coach Doug Bruno was recently named co-winner of the NCAA Division I Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. This marks the fifth time that Bruno has earned the IBCA honor.

He led the Blue Demons to a 22-10 record this season and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1997. DePaul’s 22 wins were the most since the club posted a 22-10 record in 1989-90. In 17 seasons in Lincoln Park, the DePaul graduate holds a 299-198 record with the Blue Demons. In the last 15 seasons, the program has produced eight 20-win seasons, 12 postseason appearances and 60 conference academic honor roll award winners.

Bruno was also awarded with the IBCA honor following the 1990-91, 92-93, 95-96 and 2000-01 seasons.
