Louisville's Nord Named a Finalist for the Collegiate Basketball Award of Excellence

University of Louisville senior point guard Sara Nord is one of three finalists for the 2nd Annual Creamland Dairies Collegiate Basketball Award of Excellence. Nord joins Nicole Ohlde of Kansas State and Hana Peljto of Harvard on the list of finalists. Moris Finley of UAB, Adam Mark of Belmont and Jason Parker of Tulsa were named the men's finalists. The three finalists were narrowed down from a list of 10 semifinalists.
This year's award will be presented on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at an awards dinner at the Albuquerque Marriott. Nord will be in attendance along with the other finalists. ESPN College Basketball Analyst Jimmy Dykes will emcee the event.
The Creamland Dairies Collegiate Basketball Award of Excellence honors college seniors for their athletic and academic achievement, as well as their community involvement. The award, in its second year, was first presented in Albuquerque after the 2002-03 basketball season. Last year's winners were Matt Bonner of Florida who was drafted by the Chicago Bulls and Tiffany Kyser of IUPUI.
Nord finished her senior season scoring 17.3 points per game. She ranks as the school and conference all-time assist leader with 844 career assists. She was a four time first team All-Conference USA selection. Nord was also named an Associated Press and Kodak/WBCA Honorable Mention All-American.
