April 15, 2008
ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team will participate in the "Big Wheel Deal" Charity Basketball Game on Friday at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. The community service event is in conjunction with the Wheels for the World Charity. Wheels for the World is an international organization that raises money to donate wheelchairs to those in need. According to the World Health Organization, some 20-30 million disabled people need wheelchairs, but most lack the financial ability or availability to purchase one. Wheels for the World donates countless wheelchairs to those in need. UCF women's basketball student-athletes will be volunteering their time at the event, which begins at 6 p.m. with fun games for kids and young fans. The wheelchair basketball game begins around 7:45 p.m. with some of the UCF athletes playing in the game and others refereeing the contest. A photo gallery from the event will be available on www.ucfathletics.com.
