USM's Sonja Brown Signs With Los Angeles Sparks

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's basketball player Sonja Brown signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA this past weekend.

Brown, a two-year letterwinner and starter for the Lady Eagles, averaged 6.0 points and 6.4 rebounds during her senior season. She finished the season No. 6 in the nation in blocked shots (3.2 per game). During her two-year campaign, she set the school record for blocked shots for a single game (11), season (101) and career (190). She was named Conference USA co-Player of the Week once.
