Tulane senior guard Jami Montagnino was named the Conference USA 2006-07 Scholar Athlete of the Year Wednesday. The 2007 graduate was a first team All-Conference USA selection on the court and a Conference USA All-Academic Team honoree in the classroom.

In May, Montagnino graduated with a degree in Exercise Science major with a minor in Chemistry, while carrying a 3.57 GPA. She was member of the Tulane Dean's List, 3.0 Club and Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll all four years.

Montagnino finished her Tulane career with 1,111 points, 14th all-time at Tulane, including fourth all-time in three-pointers. She was named First Team All-Conference USA and First Team All-Louisiana after leading the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game, 10th in C-USA. She also led Conference USA in free throw percentage, ranking fifth in the NCAA.

Her .899 free throw percentage (107-of-119) is Tulane's single season free throw percentage record and improves her career percentage to .861 (248-of-288), the best all-time at Tulane.

She was named AllState Sugar Bowl's Student-Athlete of the Month for January (the month of the Sugar Bowl) and earned FIU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team honors while helping Tulane to a 26-7 overall record, one shy of the school record for wins, and a berth in the WNIT Second Round.
