UAB'S Jackson to Attend USA Basketball's Summer Development Camp

CHICAGO, Ill. - UAB forward Deanna Jackson, who led the Blazers to Conference USA's first-ever NCAA Sweet 16 appearance, is one of the 45 invitees to the 2000 USA Basketball Women's Summer Development Camp/R. Williams Jones Cup Team Trials, slated for May 17-22 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The United States team will compete in the R. William Jones Cup, which will be held July 16-20 in Taipei, Taiwan.

Jackson enjoyed a super sophomore season, leading the nation with 24 double-doubles, including 12 games with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds. The 6-2 Birmingham native also finished sixth in the nation with a school-record 385 rebounds (11.7 per game). Jackson, who has scored 1,047 points in two seasons at UAB, earned first team All-Conference USA honors after leading the Blazers in scoring 19 times and in rebounding 27 times.
