Clark Joins UC Women's Basketball Staff
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Michelle Clark, former Kentucky high school player of the year, has been named assistant women's basketball coach at the University of Cincinnati.
"Michelle brings high quality experience as a player and a coach to our program," stated UC head coach Laurie Pirtle. "She is a good recruiter and an excellent on-the-floor coach with the post players. She has great communication skills."
Clark served as assistant coach at Nebraska the past three years. The Louisville, Ky. native, who earned the state's top prep honors in 1986 while playing at Atherton High, helped Western Kentucky to four straight NCAA tournament appearances during her college career.
Clark rejoined her head college coach, Paul Sanderford, at Nebraska in 1998 as administrative assistant. She was promoted to assistant coach a year later and was responsible for recruiting, academics and scouting.
Clark, who earned her bachelor's degree at Western Kentucky in 1990 and completed her master's at Nebraska in 2001, spent eight years working in recreational services in Louisville and Bowling Green, Ky. She also served as head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach at DePont Manuel High in 1994 and played professionally with the Kentucky Marauders of the Women's Basketball Association in 1995.
