Senior Paulina Love of Southern Miss and UAB's Jala Haris has been named this week's Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively. Love racked up her 40th career double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Haris recorded a game-high 26 points. The duo led the respective teams to season opening victories.

Love, a two-time All-C-USA first teamer, started the 2009-10 season off by recording her 40th career double-double. She scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the team's 72-53 season opening win over South Alabama Saturday. Love shot 58.8 percent from the field on 10-of-17 shooting as well as going 3-of-4 from behind the arc. The senior also dished out six assists and had one steal in 37 minutes of play. Love scored the first eight points of the game. This is her first Player of the Week honor this season and third for her career.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JALA HARRIS, UAB

In her collegiate debut, Harris led all-scorers with 25 points as the team picked up a season opening victory over Alcorn State, 76-62, Friday. The Madison, Ala., native nearly notched a double-double, grabbing nine rebounds, while adding four assists and a pair of steals to her stat line. Harris' layup three minutes into the second half gave the Blazers their first lead since the opening bucket, sparking a 12-3 run.
