CONFERENCE USA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SHOOTING STARS (Sat., Dec. 19)
Every player on the East Carolina roster scored and had a rebound in the Pirates 103-59 victory over Houston-Baptist in the USF Shootout at the Sun Dome. The Lady Pirates are now 9-1 for the third time in program history and first since the 1971-72 season. The 103 points matched the seventh-most in a single game in program history, as the team scored 103 in a 103-40 win over Appalachian State March 3, 1981. Three players scored in double figures, led by Ashley Clarke's 15, followed by Kelly Smith and Crystal Wilson added 14 and 10, respectively.

SMU (7-2) erased a nine-point deficit and held off a late charge by Wichita State to take a 66-60 win in the first round of the Bahamas Sunsplash Shootout at the Kendall Isaacs Gym. Sophomore F Christine Elliott produced her second double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 boards to lead the Mustangs. Senior G Alice Severin scored a season-high 15 points, followed by sophomore Samantha Mahnesmith, who made her first start of the season, 12 points and Brittany Gilliam's 11.

UAB (4-6) dropped a 68-66 overtime nailbiter to Virginia Tech at the St. John's-Chartwells Holiday Classic. Junior G Amanda Peterson scored 21 points, including six 3-pointers, while freshman G Jala Harris added 17 points, four assists and three steals. In addition to Peterson and Harris, senior F Tamika Dukes reached double digits for the fifth game in a row, chipping in 11.
