Tulsa Women Golfers in 18th Place at NCAA Championship

Albuqerque, NM - After completing the second round on Thursday morning with an 18-hole total of 317, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane women golfers carded a third round score of 310. Tulsa sits in 18th place entering Friday's final round at the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship. The Hurricane has a three round total of 924 on the par-72 University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course. Eight teams will finish their third rounds on Friday beginning a 7:00 am (MT), after the third round was suspended due to darkness. UCLA and USC are tied for lead with 16-over par scores, but still have to holes to finish in the morning, Thirteen teams had to finish the second round beginning at 7:00 am (MT) on Thursday morning due to the windy conditions on Wednesday that suspended play. The third round began at 1:00 pm (MT) with a shotgun start, but players were called off the course at 1:15 pm due to lightening. Tulsa ended the second round late morning with a 32-hole total of 614 after a second round of 317. Senior Michaela Cavener turned in the best second round score for the Hurricane with a four-over par 76. PAC 10 schools UCLA and Southern California led after two rounds with scores of 584, while little known Denver University was in third-place just three strokes behind the two powerhouses. The Hurricane was one of the 16 teams to finish its third round on Thursday, in which the Hurricane shot a score of 310. Freshman Kelly Fuchik, teeing off from hole 14 to start the day, bogeyed holes 17 and 1, before dropping in an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole, and followed that a birdie-bogey-birdie on holes 6, 7 and 8. She finished with Tulsa's best round with a two-over par 74 after bogeying three of her final four holes. She has a total of 231 heading into the final round. Senior Michaela Cavener has the best individual sore for the Hurricane with a total of 225 for 27th place. Senior Leisl Hasbrouck and junior Woori Shin are tied for 90th place with scores of 234, while senior Tara Goedeken has a three-round total of 246.
