ECU's Bools Qualifies For 107th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship
July 6, 2007 LEXINGTON, N.C. - East Carolina women's golfer Abby Bools posted a two-over par 73 (37-36) qualifying for the 107th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship. The qualifier was held at the Sapona Country Club in Lexington, N.C. Bools, a sophomore from Hickory, N.C., finished in a tie for 10th and earned a spot in the championship event after winning on the first hole of a playoff. She was an All-Conference third team selection as a freshman for the Pirates. Play begins on Monday, Aug. 6 at the Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. with two days of stroke-play qualifying rounds with 156 players leading up to four days of match play. The final day of competition on Sunday, Aug. 12 will see the remaining two players going head-to-head for 36 holes of match play for the Championship title and the coveted Robert Cox Trophy.
