IRVING, Texas - East Carolina, on the strength of Abby Bools' medalist finish, claimed the 2007 Myrtle Beach Classic Title on Tuesday. Bools shot a 68 on the final day, her personal best and the third-lowest 18-hole score in school history. The Pirates have now won at least one tournament in all eight years of the program's history.

In her first tournament of the 2007-08 season, Bools posted her first collegiate win, fourth career top-10 and sixth career top-20 finish at the 2007 Myrtle Beach Classic with a two-under par 142 (74-68) on Tuesday. Bools, who was tied for 18th heading into final round action, recorded a six-under par 68 on the final day and defeated teammate Amber Littman and Georgia State's Iliska Verwey in a five-hole playoff. Bools, whose 68 was the third lowest 18-hole score in school history, guided East Carolina to the team title as the Pirates posted a 36-hole tournament score of 578 (two-over par). With the win, the Pirates have recorded at least one team tournament win in all eight years of the program's existence and have posted 11 total titles. The weekly honor is the second of Bools' career and first in 2007.

AMBER LITTMAN - EAST CAROLINA
Littman was edged out by teammate and C-USA Golfer of the Week Abby Bools at the Myrtle Beach Classic and claimed second-place honors. It took five playoff holes for Bools to claim her title. The second-place finish was the first top-five finish of her career.

Sophomore Abby Bools carded a final round score of 68 and defeated teammate Amber Littman and Georgia State's Iliska Verwey in a playoff to capture her first collegiate individual title Tuesday afternoon at the 2007 Myrtle Beach Classic... The 36-hole event was being held at the par-72, 6,136-yard Grande Dunes Resort Golf Club... Bools claimed the title after paring the fifth playoff hole (No. 8)... ECU has claimed at least one tournament victory in all eight years of the program's history... Bools' second round score of 68 was a personal-best low 18-hole score... It also ties for the third lowest 18-hole score in school history... ECU's opening round of 291 ranks as the fourth-best team low 18-hole score in school history... Sophomore Ana Maria Puche recorded her third career top-10 finish and sixth top-20 placement... Littman recorded her first career top-five.
MARSHALL
Marshall sophomore Larie Lynch claimed medalist honors for the first time of her career by virtue of winning the 2007 Lady Herd Fall Classic by a two-stroke margin Sept. 9-10... Playing in her first collegiate event in her hometown, Lynch (78-75-78=231) overcame a two-stroke deficit after the tournament's first 36 holes... Lynch was the lone golfer in the tournament to shoot all three rounds in the 70s... Her efforts, along with those of four Herd newcomers, guided Marshall to a runner-up finish... Marshall hits the course again on Sept. 29-Oct. 1 when they compete in the Lady Wildcat Classic in Lexington, Ky.

Memphis opened its fall season with an 11th-place finish in a 17 team field Louisville's Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup Sept. 17-18... Sophomore transfer Taylor Bunnell earned a tie for 27th overall and led the Tigers with a tournament score of 228... Junior Rachel Larson and seniors Dawn-Marie Conaty and Meghan Mahoney each finished in the top-50... Larson's 233 (79-80-74) gave her a four-way tie for 45th, and Conaty and Mahoney each recorded a 233 to tie for 49th... The Tigers are in action again Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the Lady Wildcat Classic in Lexington, Ky.

SMU fought its way to a fourth-place finish in the season opening Badger Invitational at the par-72, 6,175-yard University Ridge Course Sept. 9-10... The last 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament were cancelled due to unplayable conditions... Lacey Jones notched a top-10 finish with a 36-hole total of 6-over 150, while Kate Ackerson and Paige Martin both scored top-20 results... As a team, SMU went 307-309 to place fourth in the 12-team field... The Mustangs return to the links Sept. 29-30 at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Southern Miss placed 14th in the 17-team field at the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup in Louisville, Ky., Sept. 17-18 after compiling a 310 team score of the final circuit for a 933 total... Southern Miss bettered its finish by 61 strokes this season over last year's appearance... Sophomore Rebecka Nilsson shot a final-round 71 to earn a ninth-place tie... Nilsson posted her collegiate-best tying round of 71 to end the event with a score of 222... The Golden Eagles return to the links Oct. 1-2 at the Marilyn Smith/Sunflower Classic in Manhattan, Kan.
TULSA
Tulsa finished in fifth place in its first tournament of the fall season as the Hurricane carded rounds of 304-295-305 for a 904 total at the 18-team Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate Sept. 17-18... Senior Michaela Cavener used an even-par second round 72 and a final round 73 to move into seventh place for the tournament to pace the Hurricane and earn C-USA Golfer of the Week honors... The Golden Hurricane return to the course Sept. 29-30 at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.

UAB concluded the Lady Herd Fall Classic in fourth place out of eight teams at Guyun Golf and Country Club in Huntington, W.Va., Sept. 9-10... The Blazers shot a 322 on the final day of competition to finish the tournament with a score of 983... Junior Alyson Mitchell was UAB's top performer, placing fifth overall with a total of 235 that included two rounds of 77... Sophomore Carolyn Cochran tied for the 13th place at 244, while junior Christina Wentworth finished with a third-round score of 78 to put her in 16th place with a total of 246... Heavy rains forced the cancellation of the final round of the Badger Invitational Sept. 10 as the UCF women's golf team claimed third place based on its efforts from the first 36 holes of tournament... UCF posted a 607 (+31) in Sunday's opening two rounds to finish third in the 12-team field... Sophomore Sara Hurwitch finished the tournament in a tie for second at 148 (+4), which is her best career finish as a Knight...
