IRVING, Texas - East Carolina is ranked No. 20 in the latest GolfWeek rankings following its win at the 2007 Myrtle Beach Classic last week. Both SMU and Tulsa finished 6th at the Lady Wolverine Invitational to secure the top C-USA finishes last week. Southern Miss claimed 8th place at the Marilyn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, while UTEP also finished 8th at the ORU Shootout.
WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
KATE ACKERSON - SMU
Jr., Allen, Texas (Allen)
Ackerson tied for second place at the 2007 Wolverine Invitational at the par-71, 6,098-yard U-M Golf Course after carding a 71 during play on Saturday. Ackerson, a native of Allen, Texas, shot 74-71-76 over the two-day event to take runner-up honors and finished just two shots behind medalist Stephany Fleet of Eastern Michigan. The weekly award is the first for Ackerson in 2007-08 and the third of her career.

RACHEL LARSON - MEMPHIS
Larson finished 26th at the Wildcat Fall Invitataional earlier this week. Her 230 (75-79-76) led Memphis to an 11th place finish at the Tigers' second tournament this fall.
CAROLYN COCHRAN - UAB
Cochran shot two identical rounds of 82 to tie for 35th at the Yale Invitational with a total score of 164.
DEBORAH MARTINEZ - UTEP
Martinez, a sophomore, finished 10th (79-75-78) at the ORU Shootout in Tulsa, Okla. Her efforts helped her team to an 8th place finish.

EAST CAROLINA
East Carolina made its debut in the national collegiate golf rankings this season with a No. 20 ranking by GolfWeek... Following the Pirates' tournament win at the 2007 Myrtle Beach Classic last week, they find themselves nationally-ranked for the first time in school history... Abby Bools, the 2007 Myrtle Beach Classic champion was ranked No. 29 by the publication, while freshman Amber Littman was ranked 30th... ECU will hit the links Friday, Oct. 5 when it participates in the 2007 Lady Tar Heel Invitational, which will be played at the par-72, 6,285-yard UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill.
MARSHALL
Marshall ended play in the Wildcat Invitational Monday finishing in 14th place... The team finished with a total of 988 (327, 324, 337) in the 54-hole tournament... Rachel Halloran led the team with a 52nd place finish with a total of 240 (76, 81, 83)... Larie Lynch, who was coming off a first place finish at the Lady Herd Invitational, finished in a tie for 54th place... The Herd returns to the course Oct. 15-16 at the Richmond Spider Invitational in Midlothian, Va.
MEMPHIS
Memphis finished the third round of the University of Kentucky's Wildcat Fall Invitational with a team score of 313 to take 11th place overall... Rachel Larson led the Tigers with a tournament score of 230 (75-79-76) and finished 26th... The team improved its team score each round (322-317-313), but just missed finishing in the top-10... The team travels to Columbia, Mo., next week to compete in the Johnie Imes Invitational.
SMU
SMU's Kate Ackerson tied for second place at the 2007 Wolverine Invitational at the par-71, 6,098-yard U-M Golf Course after carding a 74-71-76 over the two-day event... For her efforts she was named C-USA Women's Golfer of the Week... Lacey Jones also claimed a top-10 finish, shooting 74-71-81 to take seventh... As a team, SMU finished in a tie for sixth at 926 following a 320 on Sunday... In her first tournament for the Mustangs in over year, senior Laura Cross was consistent, carding a 80-79-80 to tie for 35th... Paige Martin shot 78-80-83 to tie for 40th, while Tia Gannon rounded out the SMU team in 45th at 81-79-83... The Mustangs are back in action Oct. 12-14 at the Mercedes Benz Championship in Knoxville, Tenn.
SOUTHERN MISS
Inclement weather forced cancellation of the final round of the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational on Tuesday... Southern Miss shot rounds of 308 and 320 on Monday to finish eighth place after 36 holes in the 13-team field... Rebecka Nilsson tallied rounds of 74 and 79 to rank tied for 19th with a 153... Jennifer Bodemann and Clara Viladomiu each notched a 158 stroke total to record 42nd-place ties... Southern Miss returns to the links Oct. 8-9 at the Jeannine McHaney Intercollegiate in Lubbock, Texas.
TULSA
Tulsa finished in sixth place in the 10-team field at the Wolverine Invitational on Sunday... TU carded a final round 307 for a 926 total at the par-71 U-M Golf Course... The Hurricane had three golfers, all seniors, finish among the top-20... Leisl Hasbrouck led the way with a 12th place performance after a round of 76 today for a 229 total... Tara Goedeken and Michaela Cavener finished in a 17th place tie with 232 totals... Goedeken carded a final round 79, while Cavener rebounded from a tough second round to shoot a two-over par 73 on the final day... Freshmen Brooke Baker and Kelly Fuchik turned in scores of 239 and 243, respectively... Baker placed in a tie for 35th place after shooting a round of 79 on Sunday, while Fuchik finished in 45th place... TU is back on the course Oct. 5-7 at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.

UAB concluded its play at the Yale Invitational on Sunday by finishing in 13th place with a two-round total of 680... Carolyn Cochran and junior Alyson Mitchell were UAB's top performers, both concluding the event with scores of 164 to tie for 35th place in the individual standings... Lindsay Taylor recorded rounds of 90 and 85 to tie for 67th with a total of 172, while Christina Wentworth tied for 77th place by carding a 177... The Blazers return to the course Oct. 8-9 at the Lady Indian Classic in Jonesboro, Ark.
UCF
UCF finished in seventh place at the Wildcat Invitational on Monday, posting a 313 in final round action at the University Club's Big Blue Course... Jessy Tang was the top finisher for the Knights, tying for 18th with a three-round total of 227... Sara Hurwitch posted the lowest round of the day for the Knights, carding a 77 to finish in a tie for 28th overall... Stephanie Connelly and Tang both posted scores of 78 in the final round... Connelly ended up in a tie for 26th with a 54-hole score of 230... Liz Alger rounded out the scoring for UCF in the final round, carding an 80... The Knights are idle until Oct. 12-14 when they travel to Knoxville, Tenn. to participate in the Mercedes Benz Championship.

UTEP finished eighth at the ORU Invitational in Tulsa, Okla. on Tuesday... The Miners put together rounds of 321, 316 and 318 for a two-day total of 955...
