Marquette senior Kate Gordon was drafted Sunday by the Carolina Courage of the WUSA. She was taken in the fourth round with the 32nd pick overall.
Gordon was a three-time All-American while at Marquette and was a four-time All-Conference USA team member. Gordon is the second all-time leading scorer at Marquette.
"This is a special day for Kate, our program and Marquette," said head coach Markus Roeders. "Being drafted into the pro league, playing with the best in the world, not to mention the defending champs, is an honor. We are all excited about it. We knw she will do well and we wish her the best."
Gordon is the first Golden Eagle to be selected in the WUSA Draft. The eight team league will be entering its third season. The season begins in April.
