Soccer Buzz Honors SLU's Burke and Kehl

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University women's soccer players Meghann Burke (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) and Jenny Kehl (Ft. Collins, Colo./Ft. Collins) were recognized by Soccer Buzz for their outstanding 2002 seasons. Burke earned a spot on the All-America third team in addition to first-team All-Region honors. Kehl was a third-team All-Region selection.
Burke led Conference USA with a school-record 12 shutouts while toting a 0.78 goals against average en route to NSCAA All-America and C-USA Defensive Player of the Year honors. Her goals against average was second-best in the league and ranked 21st in the nation. A three-time C-USA Defensive Player of the Week selection, her final shutout came at the expense of the league's second-seeded team, Cincinnati, as the Billikens ended the Bearcats' 23-game C-USA regular-season unbeaten streak. Burke owns every SLU career goalkeeping record with a 0.89 goals against average, 48 victories, 38 shutouts and 347 saves. In addition to her athletic accolades, Burke was named an NSCAA Scholar All-America as well.
Kehl earned her third-straight first-team All-Conference selection and a spot on the NSCAA All-Region second team after leading C-USA with a school-record tying 12 assists. Ranking 13th in the nation in assists per game, her 22 points were among the league's top 10. Kehl set the school record with 34 career assists and matched the program's best mark with 78 career points. Her 22 career goals rank third in school history.
The Billikens completed their season with a 13-6-1 overall record and finished third in Conference USA with a 6-3-1 league mark.
