Louisville's Women's Soccer Coach Karen Ferguson to Serve as Assistant Coach of All-Star Team
LOUISVILLE, KY - University of Louisville Women's Soccer Head Coach Karen Ferguson has been named assistant coach of the U-19 Adidas All-Star Team. The Adidas sponsored USYSA event will take place from April 18-28 in Europe, and the team will be composed of players in the current U-19 US National Team player pool.
"I'm extremely excited to have this opportunity to go overseas with such a talented group of young women." Said Ferguson. "We will be in countries that are fanatical about soccer so the competition will be great. Also, I am thrilled to be working with such a highly respected coach as Jill Ellis."
Ferguson will serve as the assistant to current UCLA coach Jill Ellis who will serve as the head coach. The U-19 squad will compete in international games in Germany, Holland, and Belgium.
In addition to her upcoming duties with the Adidas All-Star Team, Ferguson also maintains her position as a US Soccer Region II Staff Coach. This past year she served as the head coach of the Region II 87 girl's team which competed in the Adidas ESP event and the November Interregional event in Boca Raton, Florida. This summer Ferguson will coach the US Soccer Region II 89 girl's team.
Ferguson will begin her fourth season as head coach of the Cardinals this fall. The women's soccer team at U of L has improved its record over the previous season all three seasons under Ferguson.
