UAB senior women’s soccer player Jessica Samulski was recently named the Undergraduate Student of the Year in Collaborative Education, one of the University’s prestigious academic honors.
“Jessica is a strong-willed person who has worked extremely hard both on-and-off the field this season,” said UAB head coach Paul Harbin. “Our
team voted her as a captain in recognition of the positive impact she has had on our soccer program. It’s exciting to see her being recognized by the University on an even larger scale. I am extremely proud of Jessica and I
look forward to watching her impact the teaching profession for the better.”
Samulski, who started all 19 games for the Blazers in 2003, finished the season with six assists and helped lead UAB to the regular-season Conference USA championship. She was named a team captain prior to the 2003 campaign and served as one of three Blazer seniors.
UAB’s shifty midfielder also excelled in the classroom and was named the Collaborative Education’s Undergraduate Student of the Year. Samulski, who was named to the C-USA Honor Roll in three-consecutive seasons, was awarded
with the Collaborative Education’s top honor at the Education Department’s Annual Ceremony held in the Alys Stephens Center.
