DALLAS (SMU) - SMU women's soccer head coach Brent Erwin announced the addition of three members to his coaching staff on Monday. They include Kyle Mittendorf, Erin MacCallum, and Joe Waggoner. All three have already begun their coaching duties on the Hilltop.

Mittendorf comes to SMU via Vanderbilt University where he served as an assistant coach for the men's soccer program from 2003 through 2006. He was involved in all of the daily operations of the program, including on-field coaching and recruiting. In 2005, Mittendorf was the head coach of the Brentwood (Tenn.) Boys U-18 soccer club, which qualified and competed in the top club tournaments nationwide. Prior to Vanderbilt, he was the men's soccer assistant coach at Eastern Illinois for two years and served as the head coach for the Panther Boys' U-15 team. From 2001-02, Mittendorf was a volunteer men's assistant coach at SMU, coordinating the Mustang soccer camps as well as being heavily involved in the day-to-day operations at SMU. He obtained a National "D" License in 2004.

Mittendorf played two seasons with the PDL's Kansas City Brass after completing his eligibility at Eastern Illinois. Selected to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament team in 1998, he posted two stellar seasons at Johnson County Community College (1995-96) with a second-team All-Region selection in 1996 and a first-team All-Region pick in 1997. He earned a Bachelor's degree in history from Kansas in 2001.

"We are very fortunate to have Kyle with us," says Erwin. "As soon as I was named coach at SMU, I knew he was someone we needed on our staff. Kyle is a fantastic coach and tireless worker. He is a very insightful, calm presence that is a perfect fit for our coaching staff and team. He has proven himself at every level he has coached at and brings great SMU history with him to our program."

MacCallum returns to her alma mater after spending the last three years working as a coach with various soccer clubs in the United States as well as Canada. A four-year letterwinner with the SMU women's soccer program (2001-04), MacCallum played in 84 games (73 starts) wearing a Mustang uniform. She totaled 12 goals and nine assists (33 points) and was a member of the SMU squad which won four WAC regular season titles , four WAC Tournament titles, and made four NCAA post-season appearances. MacCallum has been a member of the Canadian U-18, U-19, U-21 and national women's soccer team and competed in a number of international games.

After graduating from SMU in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in marketing with a minor in advertising, MacCallum was associated with a number of club soccer teams (Chinooks, FC Dallas, and Beddington), serving as a technical trainer as well as co-coach. In addition, she was co-coach of the Zone 2 select team for the Alberta Summer Games.
