Conference USA opens its 14th season Friday, with all 12 teams on the pitch for at least one non-conference game over the weekend. Seven matches are scheduled for Friday evening, beginning in Greenville, N.C., as East Carolina hosts Western Carolina for a 5 p.m. EDT start. Colorado College, Houston, Memphis, Rice and UTEP also play a home opener Friday night, while SMU will host No. 23 Oklahoma State on Saturday. The other five teams are on the road. Marshall plays a Saturday afternoon contest at St. Bonaventure under new interim coach Kevin Long. Southern Miss and Tulsa also welcomes new coaches (see below), but both will also debut with a pair of road games. UAB is at Clemson on Friday and at Auburn for an interstate rivalry match Sunday. UCF also plays a nationally-ranked foe as the Knights take on No. 4 Florida State in an intrastate match that was originally scheduled for Friday, but was moved to Sunday because of the severe weather from Tropical Storm Fay.
