Memphis moved up eight spots to No. 15 in the most recent NSCAA/HendrickCars.com national rankings, following a 1-0 shutout of a tough LSU team Saturday night. The Tigers are also one of four C-USA teams ranked in the NSCAA Central Region's Top 10, along with UCF (No. 5), UAB (No. 8) and Colorado College (No. 9). SMU is also receiving regional votes.

The Tigers will play a key match this Friday, Sept. 3, as they go on the road to face No. 20 Oklahoma State. That is one of 11 matches scheduled for Friday, while Colorado College opens the holiday weekend with a 5 p.m. CT match at Wyoming on Thursday.

Rice opens Friday's action at the Cal Tournament against host No. 21 California at 2 p.m. PT. Houston takes its 3-0 record on the road to face in-state foe TCU, while UCF and UTEP also face intrastate rivals against USF and Stephen F. Austin, respectively. East Carolina and Southern Miss are also traveling during the holiday.

Marshall, coming off two ties in the Winthrop Tournament last weekend, is the last team to play a home opener as the Thundering Herd will host the Best Western Huntington Mall Invitational. Marshall will play Radford on Friday and Appalachian State on Sunday. SMU and Tulsa will also stay home for two weekend matches, while UAB hosts Western Carolina Friday before the Blazers head across town on Sunday to face Samford.
