Freshman F Claire Nicholson (Overland Park, Kan.) dribbled in a ball from the right side and picked up her sixth goal from 10 yards out at the 53:53 mark.
• Behind a balanced attack, No. 15 Memphis toppled UALR, 6-0. Junior MF Lizzy Hildebrant (Calgary, Alberta) opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. C-USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Ashley Berra (Cordova, Tenn.) assisted on the second goal and netted two goals of her own.
• Memphis senior MF Vendula Strnadova (Las Cruces, N.M.) has now posted a school-record 198 career shots in her 71st career match. She broke the record previously held by Kylie Hayes.
• UCF posted its third straight win as four different Knights scored goals as UCF erased an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Virginia Commonwealth, 4-1. Sophomore Tishia Jewell (Satellite Beach, Fla.) and senior Kim Newsome (Apopka, Fla.) each registered a goal and an assist. Senior GK Jaclyn Meade (Sarasota, Fla.) started in net and finished with three saves for her second victory on the weekend.
• Marshall defeated Appalachian State, 2-0, Sunday to win the Best Western Huntington Mall Invitational. Four MU players were named to the All-Tournament Team. Erin Blakely (Westerville, Ohio) earned the tournament MVP award as she tallied a goal and an assist on the weekend. Also receiving All-Tournament honors for Marshall was junior co-captain Freya Holdaway (Llandrindod Wells, Wales) and sophomore MF Sarah Vinson (Amelia, Ohio). GK Lindsey Kerns (Hurricane, W.Va.) wrapped up the Herd awards she tallied four saves on the weekend. Amelia was also named to the all-tournament team at last weekend's Winthrop Tournament.
• A Rice California connection of junior F Annie Kadota (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) and senior MF Kate Edwards (Westlake Village, Calif.), playing in their home state for the first time as members of the Owls' soccer team, combined for goals to lift the Blue & Gray to a dramatic 2-1 come-from-behind victory over San Francisco. Rice closed out the final round of action at the California Invitational with a win over an USF squad that entered the weekend with an undefeated record.
• UTEP stormed out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back on the way to a 5-1 road win over Houston Baptist Sunday. Sophomore Brittany Kindzierski (Edmonton, Alberta) powered the decisive six-minute stretch, scoring twice in a 59-second span (4:46 & 5:45) before assisting on sophomore Skye Schultz's (Tucson, Ariz.) tally at 10:57.
