Craft Named to Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week for Second Consecutive Week

Jamie Craft

Louisville forward Jamie Craft was named to the Soccer Buzz National Elite Team for the second consecutive week and the Cardinals moved up three notches in the Great Lakes regional rankings to 12th.

"It is great to get some recognition in a solid region like the Great Lakes Region," Head Coach Karen Ferguson said.

Louisville is 7-2-0 overall, the best start in school history thought nine matches, and opened the Conference USA schedule with a pair of 1-0 wins on the road at USF and UAB last weekend.

Craft, a sophomore who also earned C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors this week, scored both of the Cardinal goals on the weekend, upping her season total to nine goals in nine game, four of which are game winners.

"Jamie had a tremendous week for us, and again she is well deserving of the honor," Ferguson added.

The sophomore from Owings, Maryland is 22nd in the nation in points per game(2.22) and 11th in goals per game(1.0).

As a team, the Cards rank 42nd out of 300 schools in scoring offense(2.44 gpg), 22nd in shutout percentage(.560) and 26th in won-lost-tied percentage(.778).

Cardinal senior goalkeeper Meredith Miller won C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honors for her two shutouts over the weekend, and now leads the league in goals against average (0.50) and save percentage (.909).

Last week the Cards cracked the Soccer Buzz regional rankings at number 15, the first such ranking in school history.

U of L will host Tulane(4-5-1, 2-0) on Friday in Cardinal Park at 7:00 p.m., and Southern Miss(4-3-1, 0-2-0) at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free and the games can be followed on UofLsports.com with Gametracker.
