    Nationally-ranked Charlotte remained unbeaten and captured the C-USA regular-season title and the top-seed in the Nov. 6-9 tournament which it hosts. USF's Aleia Long was named the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week and SLU Meghann Burke was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.     PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

    OFFENSIVE

    Aleia Long, Midfielder, Senior
    South Florida

    Scored the game-tying goal against UAB on Sunday, which the Bulls went on to win, 2-1, in double overtime. Long has scored three goals in South Florida's last four games, helping the Bulls to a 3-0-1 record over that span and remain in contention for a spot in the C-USA Tournament.

    DEFENSIVE

    Meghann Burke, Goalkeeper, Senior
    Saint Louis

    For the third time this season, Burke posted back-to-back C-USA shutouts in a pair of 2-0 wins over Cincinnati and Louisville last weekend. It marked the first time this year that Burke has registered consecutive shutouts on the road. Burke set a Saint Louis record with 12 shutouts this season, giving her 38 for her career. She has a record of 11-0-1 this season in shutout games.

    STREAKS AND TRENDS
    Charlotte extended its unbeaten streak to 16 games by with a scoreless tie with Cincinnati and a 6-1 win at Louisville this past weekend to push its record to 14-0-2. With those wins, Charlotte captured the regular season championship and will have the No. 1 seed in the C-USA Tournament, which it hosts Nov. 6-9.

    The 49ers’ COURTNEY CRANDELL has set a school record for goals in a single season with 19th. Crandell had two goals against Louisville.

    Cincinnati had its 23-match unbeaten record snapped on Sunday with a 2-0 loss to Saint Louis at home. Ironically, it was the Billikens who last handed the Bearcats a defeat over two seasons ago, a 4-0 decision in Saint Louis on October 1, 2000.

    SLU goalkeeper MEGHANN BURKE set a school record with 12 shutouts this season. Burke, for the third time this season, notched back-to-back C-USA shutouts. For her career, Burke owns 38 shutouts.

    USF catapulted into the thick of the C-USA standings with back-to-back wins over USM (1-0) and UAB (2-1). The Bulls are in contention for a berth in the C-USA Tournament in Charlotte.

    C-USA NOTEBOOK
    CHARLOTTE
    Charlotte extended its unbeaten streak to nine matches, playing to a scoreless tie with Cincinnati on Friday. It was the 49ers’ third straight shutout in C-USA competition. Goalkeeper JENN HOWELL made four saves for her fourth shutout of the season. The 49ers captured the C-USA regular-season crown with a 6-1 win over Louisville on Sunday. COURTNEY CRANDELL and JENNA BRENES each scored two goals to pace the Charlotte offense. JENNIE LEEDER and JILL LEEDER each added a goal in the victory. Charlotte finishes the regular season on Friday at Saint Louis.

    CINCINNATI
    Cincinnati played to scoreless tie with unbeaten and conference-leading Charlotte on Friday at home. The Bearcats registered a 13-7 shots on goal advantage in the contest and improved their unbeaten streak to 10 matches. The tie also marks eight consecutive contests that UC has held an opponent scoreless. On Sunday, the Bearcats had their 23-game C-USA unbeaten streak snapped by Saint Louis, 2-0, at home. It was Cincinnati’s first conference loss in over two seasons. Ironically, the last time UC lost in league play was to the Billikens, 4-0, on October 1, 2000. Cincinnati had plenty of scoring opportunities on the day, outshooting Saint Louis, 10-6. The Bearcats conclude the regular season by hosting Louisville on Thursday and going to Ohio State on Saturday.

    DE PAUL
    The Blue Demons played the first of two of road contests at Valparaiso on Friday, defeating the Crusaders, 3-1. DePaul would score all of its goals within the first 23 minutes of the match. CHRISTY YOUNG became all-time points leader in DePaul with a goal in the fifth minute to open the scoring. Young now has the 37th career points. KRISSY SABERHAGEN extended the Blue Demon lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 10th minute. MARGO SACKMASTER scored DePaul’s final goal of the match in the 23rd minute off of a Valpo turnover. DePaul earned a scoreless tie at East Carolina on Sunday. The Blue Demons outshot the Pirates 14-11, including 11 second-half shots. Goalkeeper LINDSEY DEASON was credited with eight saves and JULIANNE SITCH registered five shots in the contest. DePaul finishes its regular season with a pair of matches this week, playing at Northern Illinois on Wednesday and at Marquette on Saturday.

    EAST CAROLINA
    East Carolina hosted Marquette on Friday, picking up a key 2-1 victory, despite being outshot 15-8 in the win. Trailing 1-0, ECU’s first goal came in the 41st minute by AMANDA DUFFY. The Pirates sealed the win on a header by PENNY PERROTT in the 53rd minute off a corner kick by Duffy. Goalkeeper MICHELLE KMIOTEK made six saves. East Carolina played its second home match of the weekend against DePaul on Sunday, playing to a scoreless tie. ECU posted 11 shots in the match. Goalkeeper MICHELE KMIOTEK recorded seven saves for the Pirates. East Carolina concludes the regular season by hosting UNC Wilmington on Wednesday and at Elon on Saturday.

    HOUSTON
    Houston’s Friday match at Tulane on Friday was postponed until a later date because of inclement weather. The Cougars kept their chances at a C-USA Tournament berth alive with 1-0 win at Memphis on Sunday. It took 83 minutes of play before a winner would be decided on a goal by NIKKI HAWKINS. Houston plays TCU on Friday in its home finale before playing Tulane in a make up of its postponed match from last Friday. Date and time have yet to be determined.

    LOUISVILLE
    Louisville fell at home, 2-0, to Saint Louis on Friday. The Cardinals could not capitalize on several scoring opportunities during the match with the best coming the 50th minute when GINA LOWER nearly beating the Billiken goalkeeper on a set play. On Sunday, the Cards hosted 12th-ranked Charlotte, falling the C-USA regular-season champions, 6-1. Trailing 5-0, LISA MARTIN put Louisville on the board with a tally in the 59th minute. Goalkeeper MEREDITH MILLER made six saves in the contest. The Cardinals conclude the regular season on Thursday at Cincinnati.

    MARQUETTE
    Marquette fell 2-1, at East Carolina on Friday. The Golden Eagles scored first in the seventh minute on a tally by LAURA CUHANE after teammate JULIE THOMPSON pulled the ECU keeper from the goal. The Golden Eagles played to a 1-1 tie with cross-town rival Wis.-Milwaukee on Sunday. Marquette took an early 1-0 advantage on a header by KATE GORDON in the 26th minute. However, UWM would tie the contest in the 80th minute. Marquette travels to Vanderbilt on Wedneday before wrapping up the regular season at home against DePaul.

    MEMPHIS
    Memphis scored a season four goals in a shutout of TCU on Friday. Goalkeeper KATARINA WICKSELL recorded her third consecutive shutout. It was the first time in program history that a Tiger squad has recorded three straight shutouts and Memphis became the first C-USA team to do so this season in league play this year. KRISTY MARR scored the match’s first goal in the seventh minute and her third game-winning goal of the season. ALISON BAKER made it a 2-0 Memphis lead with a tally in the 26th minute. NICKY McLEOD scored the first of two goals on the day in the 29th minute to give the Tigers a three-goal cushion. McLeod added an insurance score in the 65th minute. Memphis dropped a 1-0 decision to Houston on Sunday at home. Despite a 12-9 shot advantage, the Tigers were unable to capitalize on any offensive opportunities. Memphis has two more matches left in the regular season, playing at cross-town rival Christian Brothers and at Tulane on Friday.

    SAINT LOUIS
    The Billikens picked up 2-0 road win at Louisville on Friday. KELLY FERGUSON scored her second game-winning goal in the last three contests as Saint Louis notched its school-record 11th shutout of the season. SLU got on the scoreboard first on Ferguson’s tally in the 16th minute. JAMIE PERRY scored the Billikens’ insurance goal in the 81st minute. Saint Louis, which over two years ago handed Cincinnati its last defeat in league play on October 1, 2000, did it again on Sunday. The Billikens ended the Bearcats 23-game C-USA unbeaten streak with a 2-0 road win. The last time it happened, it was a 4-0 home win for Saint Louis. MANDY TROKEY scored game-winning goal in the fifth minute to give the SLU a 1-0 advantage. JAMIE PERRY added an insurance goal in the 72nd minute. For the third time this season, MEGHANN BURKE posted back-to-back shutouts, giving her 38 for her career. Burke is 11-0-1 in shutouts this season. Saint Louis wraps up the regular season when 10th-ranked Charlotte pays a visit on Friday.


    SOUTH FLORIDA
    USF defeated Southern Miss, 1-0, in double overtime on Friday in its regular-season home finale. On Senior Night, it was TIA OPLIGER who scored the game winner in the final home match of her USF career. After playing two scoreless halves of regulation and one overtime period, Opliger scored the contest’s tally in the 103rd minute with a header off a corner kick by KIM MARTINS. Keeper BRECK BANKSTER made three saves in the victory. South Florida continued its late season run at a conference tournament berth with a 2-1 double overtime win at UAB in its season finale. The Bulls fell behind early, but ALEIA LONG notched the equalizer in the 67th minute. In the second overtime, KIM MARTINS sealed the win with a goal in the 107th minute.

    SOUTHERN MISS
    Southern Miss suffered a 1-0 double-overtime loss at South Florida on Friday. It was the Golden Eagles second straight double-overtime contest. The two teams two scoreless halves and one extra frame before USF decided in the 103rd minute of play. Goalkeeper LESLIE SCHOEPLEIN recorded seven saves in the contest, bringing her season total to 78. Schoeplein needs six saves in the final contest of the year to pass to Hope Herron in the USM annals for most saves in a season. Southern Miss travels to UAB on Friday in its regular-season finale.

    TCU
    The Horned Frogs traveled to Memphis, where they suffered a 4-0 defeated to the Tigers on Friday. TCU was outshot by Memphis, 18-11. At Tulane on Sunday, TCU registered it fourth straight loss and its third consecutive shutout, again falling 4-0 to the Green Wave. The Horned Frogs conclude the regular season on Friday at Houston.

    TULANE
    Tulane’s Friday home match with Houston on Friday was postponed until a later date because of inclement weather. The Green Wave scored twice in each half to post a 4-0 win over TCU at home on Sunday. COLLEEN LAKE gave Tulane a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. LINDSAY MORRIS added another tally to the lead in the 37th minute. Tulane sealed the win early in the second half on goals by JACQUE GRUBER and MEGAN STACK. Tulane held a 16-7 edge in shots. The Green Wave plays host to Memphis on Friday.

    UAB
    UAB routed Jackson State, 9-0, at home on Friday with ADRIENNE SUFFERIDGE and TARA KIDWELL each scoring two goals . The Blazers scored six first half goals, with Sufferidge opening the scoring in the eighth minute. Kidwell followed Sufferidge’s goal with a score five minutes later. JENNY RYNDERS added a tally in the 19th minute and Sufferidge scored her second goal of the day just minutes later. AIMEY DISKO scored on a header in the 29th minute and Kidwell rounded out the first-half scoring with another header in the 35th minute. Following halftime, LEIGH BURTON scored her first tally of the year to start the second half scoring. In the 78th minute, JILL KNOTTEK posted a goal. JENNIFER CALALANG closed out the scoring just a minute later. The UAB defense held the Tigers without a shot in the contest. The Blazers were defeated by South Florida, 2-1 in double overtime, on Sunday at home. UAB took the lead in the seventh minute on a tally from Sufferidge, but that would be the Blazers’ only goal of the afternoon as the USF would score a goal in regulation and another in overtime for the win. UAB hosts Southern Miss in its home and regular season finale on Friday.
