Rice led all teams with four selections to the all-academic squad, including three to the first team. Seniors Erin Scott and Shelley Wong make their second consecutive appearance as first-team honorees, while classmate Katelyn Ostendorf is a repeat from 2007. Scott was named to the All-C-USA second-team earlier this week and currently leads the Owls in shots and shots-on-goal from the forward position. The Richardson, Texas native owns a perfect 4.0 GPA as a pre-med major.
In addition to earning All-Academic honors, Wong and Ostendorf both received All-C-USA third team accolades this season. Wong carries a 3.79 GPA as a double-major in economics and managerial studies and has started and played in every match for the Owls. Ostendorf is one of Rice's top defenders who often holds the responsibility of marking the opposing team's top scoring threat. The Zionsville, Ind., native also shares time at the midfielder position and contributes to the Owls' attacking game. Ostendorf maintains a 4.0 GPA as a biochemistry, cell biology and pre-med major.
Memphis also landed three selections to the All-Academic first team in the junior trio of Kelsey Bakker, Brittany Hance and Vendula Strnadova. Bakker garnered All-C-USA first team and Defensive Player of the Year honors this season and has played a vital role in a defensive back line that has posted 10 shutouts this season. The Kennewich, Wash., native owns a 3.92 GPA as an accounting student with a minor in marketing management.

She has a 3.98 GPA as a health and human performance major with an emphasis in exercise and sport science. Hance collected her first All-Academic first team honor as a biology major with a 3.83 GPA. The junior defender has helped Memphis post 10 shutouts this season and has played all 90 minutes in 11 of 16 matches this season.
UAB's Danielle Blair also makes a repeat appearance to the All-Academic first team. The senior defender has helped the Blazers to seven shutouts this season and the team got off to a school-best 8-0 start. The Ontario, Canada native owns a 4.0 GPA as a triple-major in marketing, management and industrial distribution with a minor in sales certificate.
