USM's Prewitt Named Academic All-District

Southern Miss senior forward Lauren Prewitt was named to the 2004-05 CoSIDA Academic All-District VI team today, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Prewitt will now receive consideration for Academic All-American on a national ballot.

The Katy, Texas native posted a 3.94 GPA this season, while majoring in Mass Communications.

Prewitt was named Academic All-District in 2003-04 and was one of eight Southern Miss athletes to gain the honor last year. Jennifer Keefe (women’s golf), Marc Maddox (baseball), Lana Lewis (women’s basketball), Charity Butler (softball), Bridget Files (volleyball), Nicki Tribble (volleyball) and Amy Troung (volleyball) were also Academic All-District members last season.

Prewitt, selected to Conference USA’s third team on Tuesday, concluded her career with 20 goals, four game-winning goals, six assists and 46 points.

Southern Miss concluded its soccer season with a 5-11-1 record, 1-9 mark in Conference USA.
