HOUSTON, Texas - Conference USA women's soccer players spent part of Thursday afternoon at Texas Children's Hospital as part of C-USA's continued efforts to become the best Division I-A collegiate conference in athletics, academics and in the community. Nineteen student-athletes participated in the event that included playing games, coloring and just talking to the kids.

Players from tournament host Rice University and the four semifinal teams in the 2008 C-USA Women's Soccer Championship (East Carolina, Colorado College, Memphis and UCF) put smiles on the children's faces, while getting a few smiles of their own in return.

The student-athletes spent most of their time in the 16th floor preteen room, playing video games, foosball, billiards and coloring pictures. They also distributed autographed t-shirts and even visited some patients who weren't feeling well enough to leave their hospital rooms.

Texas Children's Hospital is an internationally recognized full-care pediatric hospital located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, which is visible from the Rice University Track/Soccer Stadium - the host venue of the 2008 C-USA Women's Soccer Championship. One of the largest pediatric hospitals in the United States, Texas Children's Hospital is dedicated to providing the finest possible pediatric patient care, education and research.

Texas Children's is ranked among the Top 10 children's hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital has garnered widespread recognition for its expertise and breakthrough developments in the treatment of cancer, diabetes, asthma, HIV, premature babies, and cardiogenic and attention-related disorders.
