Ronald McDonald House Visit Photos

EL PASO, Texas - Conference USA women's soccer players spent part of Thursday evening at the El Paso Ronald McDonald House, as part of C-USA's efforts to become the best Division I-A collegiate conference in athletics, academics and in the community. Twelve league student-athletes participated in the event that included cooking a spaghetti dinner and interacting with the young children.

Players from the four remaining teams in the 2007 C-USA Women's Soccer Championship (Memphis, Rice, UCF and UTEP) were on hand and all had a wonderful time putting smiles on the children's faces, while also cooking a good meal to go along with the fun.

The Ronald McDonald House program provides a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

Some children must travel great distances to get medical attention. In-hospital treatment may last one day, one year or longer. For these children's families, accommodations can be hard to come by. Options often are limited to costly hotels or uncomfortable hospital chairs and benches.

The El Paso facility was constructed in 2002 and can accommodate up to ten families each night. Guests live in the fouse as if it was their own, preparing and eating their meals, relaxing in the living areas, playing in the central playroom and helping to keep the house clean. The central playroom has a large commercial play area, it is an indoor space where a kid can be a kid.
