Ostendorf & Wong Named To Soccer's C-USA All-Tournament Team
Nov. 12, 2007
EL PASO -- The Rice sophomore duo of Katelyn Ostendorf and Shelley Wong have both been named to the 2007 Conference USA All-Tournament team for women's soccer the league office announced at the conclusion of the tournament's championship final on Sunday (Nov. 11). Wong and Ostendorf helped lead the Owls to the tournament semifinals with a pair of games that included a 1-0 first round win over UAB and a 1-0 loss to top-seeded UCF. Ostendorf added the all-tournament honors to the list of growing accolades for this season. Last week the Zionsville, Ind., native earned second-team all-conference and selection to the league's all-academic team. At the C-USA Tournament Ostendorf was one of four Owls to play all 180 minutes. Wong, a midfielder from Virginia Beach, Va., averaged 82 minutes per game at the tournament. In addition to three shots taken with two on-goal, Wong (along with Ostendorf) worked to control the tempo and hold the opposition to just one goal on 20 shots. The duo were the soccer program's first C-USA all-tournament selections since 2005. As a team the Owls finished the year with a 12-7-2 record to tie for the third-highest win total in school history. A complete list of the league's all-tournament honorees appears below.
