MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Freshman defender Kelsey Bakker earned Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week accolades today. Bakker was named Most Valuable Defender of the C-USA Championship this past weekend.

As a freshman, Bakker has started 16 of 17 games. She has been a part of a Memphis defense that has held opponents to goals scored average of 0.83 and a shot percentage of 0.83. The Washington native stepped up during the C-USA Championship playing vital minutes for the Lady Tigers and helping Memphis earn their first C-USA Championship title. She is one of three freshman to be honored this week.
