Full Release
Charlotte’s Courtney Crandell and Kim Moore along with East Carolina’s Megan McCallion and Penny Perrott were named to the 2003 North Carolina Sports Information Association’s University Division All-State Women’s Soccer Team.
Crandell garnered second-team all-conference and All-Conference USA Tournament honors after leading her squad with nine goals and 22 points. Crandell has 30 goals in only two varsity seasons. Moore earned second-team All-Conference USA honors in 2003, marking the third time she has garnered all-league honors. A senior, Moore anchored a defense that allowed zero or one goal in 11 of the team's 20 matches.
Perrott, a four-year starter, capped her collegiate career by earning All-Conference USA first-team recognition, and became the first Pirate to be named Co-Defensive Player of the Year by C-USA in women's soccer. Perrott shared the award with USF's Breck Bankster. On the season, she helped the Pirates record six shutouts, register 1.14 goals against average, while collecting three goals and five assists. As a sophomore, McCallion led the Pirates in scoring this season with 10 goals, three of which were game-winners. She currently ranks fourth on the all-time scoring and points charts. This season, McCallion set a single-season record for shots with 83, and tied her previous years mark of 10 goals, which is the third best single-season mark. She also earned first-team All C-USA honors for the Pirates in 2003.
Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools.
