Cincinnati's Kristina Wilson Earns NSCAA Scholar All-America Honors
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Kristina Wilson, a junior defender for the University of Cincinnati's women's soccer team, has been named to the 2002 NSCAA/Adidas Scholar All-America Third-Team. The Bearcats also received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Team Academic Award for success in the classroom.
Wilson anchored a Bearcat defense which ranked 10th in the nation with a 0.60 goals against average. The psychology major started all 24 matches for UC while owning a 3.53 GPA in the
classroom.
The NSCAA Team Academic Award is given to programs with a combined GPA of 3.0. The Bearcats, under the supervision of head coach Meridy Glenn, posted a 3.06 GPA during the fall quarter. UC also received the award for the 2001 season.
The Bearcats finished the season ranked No. 23 according to SoccerBuzz Magazine with an overall record of 17-4-3 and a 6-1-3 mark in Confernce USA.
UC won the C-USA Tournament for the second onsecutive year and knocked off Kentucky 1-0 in the NCAA Tournament before bowing out 2-1 to No. 11 Tennessee.
