March 4 Softball Honors

East Carolina senior 3B Angela Manzo and Southern Miss sophomore RHP Jessica Holaway are the recipients of this week's softball hitter and pitcher of the week, respectively. Manzo led the Pirates to a 4-0 showing last weekend at the Dixie Classic in Virginia Beach, Va., while Holaway picked up three victories at the Hillenbrand Tournament in Tucson, Ariz.

HITTER OF THE WEEK

Senior, 3B, Hicksville, N.Y.
Manzo helped the Pirates to four wins at the Dixie Classic this past weekend, going 6-for-15 (.400). She hit safely in each game, scoring three runs with a double, three RBI and two stolen bases. Manzo was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI in a 2-0 win over Maine and drove in a pair of runs in a shutout victory over Delaware.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
JESSICA HOLAWAY, SOUTHERN MISS
Sophomore, RHP, Baker, La.
Holaway picked up three wins at Arizona’s Hillenbrand Invitational over the weekend, defeating Long Beach State, Eastern Michigan and Evansville (a three-hit shutout). In 19 1/3 innings pitched, she struck out 25 batters and walked just six. Holaway allowed only two runs in four appearances and gave up 12 total hits, including just five in her final three outings.
