IRVING, Texas - Freshman Tiffany Lane of UCF is this week's Conference USA Softball Hitter of the Week after helping lead the Knights to a 5-2 record, including a series win over UAB and a 3-0 victory against No. 14 Baylor. Lane recorded a hit in every contest, while scoring six times. She also swiped five bases, four of which led to her scoring a run. Angel Shamblin of Houston is the Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. Shamblin recorded three more wins, including two over C-USA foe Marshall and one over No. 21 Fresno State. The senior struck out 14 batters and is now 14-1 in the circle this season.

TIFFANY LANE - UCF

Lane helped lead the Knights to a 5-2 record on the week, including a series win over UAB and a 3-0 victory against No. 14 Baylor. In the series with the Blazers, Lane was 3-for-10 with a RBI and two runs scored, including the game-winning run in the fifth inning vs. UAB to clinch the series win. Overall on the week, Lane recorded a hit in every game, while scoring six of the Knights' 15 overall runs. The freshman also swiped five bases through seven games, four of which led to her scoring a run. Her eight-game hitting streak ties for the longest this season by a Knight, while her 31 runs scored and 18 stolen bases are almost double that of her closest teammate. Lane leads C-USA in stolen bases. This is Lane's first career C-USA weekly honor.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK (3/17)
ANGEL SHAMBLIN - Houston

Shamblin went 3-0 for the second consecutive week, including wins over No. 21 Fresno State and C-USA foe Marshall. The senior is now 14-1 in the circle this season and has a league-best 0.71 ERA. Last week, she struck out 14 batters in 20.0 innings of work, allowing just one walk and three runs. Shamblin is holding opposing hitters to a .167 batting average this season in conference games and her 14 total wins are the most in C-USA so far this season. This is Shamblin's 12th career weekly honor, her third in 2008 (Feb. 18, Mar. 10).
