Softball Hitter and Pitchers of the Week - March 29

Leigh Ann Ellis of USF and DePaul's Sarah Martz have earned C-USA Co-Pitcher of the Week and Auriel Jenkins of Southern Miss has garnered Hitter of the Week honors for the period ending March 28. Ellis allowed no earned runs in three wins and one save, while Martz collected four league victories. Jenkins hit 8-for-13 and led the Golden Eagles to a three-game sweep over Houston.
HITTER OF THE WEEK
AURIEL JENKINS, Southern Miss
Sr., OF, Pearl, Miss.
Jenkins earned Hitter of the Week for her offensive prowess in four Southern Miss wins including three at Houston. Jenkins belted two home runs and finished with eight RBI. The senior hit .619 (8-for-13), collected two walks and tallied a stolen base. In the 14-0 win against the Cougars, Jenkins was just a triple away from hitting for the cycle. She finished with a 1.154 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base average for the week.
PITCHERS OF THE WEEK
LEIGH ANN ELLIS, USF
Sr., LHP, Barboursville, W. Va.
Ellis pitched three wins and one save to lead USF over an undefeated week. The lefty pitched two one-hitters and struck out 21 batters in 17.1 innings over four games. Ellis allowed no earned runs during the stretch and has improved her ERA to 0.83. Her opponents managed to grab just six hits off of her, all of which were singles.
SARAH MARTZ, De Paul
Sr., RHP, Lanark, Ill.
Martz led DePaul to a 5-1 record in its first weekend of C-USA play against Charlotte and East Carolina. The senior tallied four complete game league wins, striking out 22 batters in 28.0 innings pitched. Martz only walked five in 104 batters faced. She allowed just four earned runs and kept her opponents’ batting average down to .163.
