Martz Earns Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week - April 19

Sarah Martz of DePaul earned Hitter and Pitcher of the Week honors for her performance over the period ending April 18. The senior threw a perfect game against Valparaiso and posted three more wins, including two more shutouts. She also hit 15-for-25 (.600), collecting eight RBI, three doubles, and a home run, while helping the Blue Demons to a 7-0 record on the week.

Martz earns C-USA Hitter of the Week after leading the Blue Demons to a 7-0 record over the period ending April 18. The two-time All-American went 15-for-25 (.600) with three doubles and a home run. Martz collected eight RBI at the leadoff position and scored eight runs. She hit safely in all seven games with multiple hits in six of the contests and successfully stole four bases. Martz also drew two walks and never struck out.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Martz tossed her second career perfect game in a 10-0 win over Valparaiso last Tuesday. The senior retired 18 batters in six innings, while striking out eight. Martz added three more victories on the week, including two more shutouts. Through four wins, she struck out 31 batters in 27.0 innings, walking two and allowing one extra-base hit. Martz did not allow an earned run over the week’s competition. Her record improves to 14-9 on the season.
