The showdown begins this weekend, as Southern Miss, UAB and Saint Louis battle it out for the last two berths to the 2003 C-USA Tournament, held on May 8-10 in Houston, Texas. Saint Louis (21-15, 9-11) must claim two victories in a three-game series against East Carolina (21-31, 2-19) to keep its tournament hunt alive. Southern Miss (25-27, 10-11) and UAB (27-24, 9-12) will face off on Saturday. Currently, the Golden Eagles hold a half-game lead over the Billikens and a full-game lead over the Blazers.


The sixth-ranked Blue Demons (40-5-1, 19-2), who claimed its third consecutive C-USA regular season crown, hosts Louisville (21-21, 12-8) in their final regular season weekend series.

Houston (34-20, 14-7) will look for some homefield advantage when it hosts No. 19 South Florida (49-14, 15-5) this weekend. Both teams are battling it out for the No. 2 seed, as the Bulls and the Cougars stand in second and third place, respectively, in the team standings. South Florida is also on the cusp of claiming its first 50-plus win season since 1998.
