CSTV Championship Game Highlights
ORLANDO, Fla. - The 2007 C-USA Softball Championship presented by Coca-Cola concluded on Saturday at the UCF Softball Complex. No. 1 Houston downed No. 2 East Carolina in the championship game, 1-0, behind another solid pitching performance from championship MVP Angel Shamblin. In Saturday's early game, the Pirates won a 12-inning thriller over No. 4 UCF, 1-0, on a Jessica Johnson home run. Friday's play began with the host Knights eliminating Tulsa, 1-0, followed by Marshall eliminating Memphis also by a score of 1-0. UCF then lived to play another day and beat No. 2 East Carolina, 3-1, to force an elimination game on Saturday. In the final game of the day, Houston advanced to the championship game with a 4-2 win over Marshall. Action began on Thursday with third-seeded Tulsa falling to No. 6 Memphis 2-1, followed by host and No. 4 UCF taking out No. 5 Marshall, 5-3. No. 2 East Carolina and Memphis then battled through nine scoreless innings before the Pirates prevailed 1-0. The nightcap saw top-seeded Houston down UCF, 2-1.
