South Florida Falls To Oklahoma in NCAA Softball Regional Action

The USF softball team fell to the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners in the second round of the NCAA Tournament today in Gainesville. The Bulls made two errors in the 8-0 loss. The Bulls will play again this evening against Oregon State to try and advance in the tournament.
The Sooners took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning. The first batter of the inning reached on an error. A walk then put runners at first and second. The first two runs scored on a double just over the second baseman’s head, and a single through the left side of the infield. The final run of the inning scored on a groundout to second base.
Oklahoma added two more runs in the top of the fourth, both of which were unearned. In the fifth inning, Oklahoma took a 6-0 lead on a homerun over the left field wall. In the sixth, the Sooner tagged a two-run homerun over the left center field wall.
The Bulls could not come back from the large deficit as they fall to 54-18 on the season. Leigh Ann Ellis took the loss, dropping to 34-10 on the season.
The Bulls will play again tonight at 8:30 p.m. against the Oregon State Beavers. Oregon State advanced in the loser’s bracket this morning with a win over Florida State . Tonight’s game will be an elimination game.
